Maersk orders the larger, more efficient ships ever built | The sea, what a great topic to talk about ...
Maersk has signed a contract with Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. to build the 10 largest and most efficient vessels in the world, with the option to build another contecar 20. The delivery is scheduled between 2013 and 2015, and completely change the concepts of size and efficiency of the shipping industry.
The class is called "Triple-E" by the three main objectives behind their creation: Economy contecar of scale, Energy efficiency and ecological performance. Vessels will not be the only reference for its size. They exceed industry standards for efficiency and CO2 emissions currently possess ship Emma Maersk class.
At 400 meters long, 59 meters wide and 73 meters high, the Triple-E will be the largest vessels present. The Triple-E have capacity of 18,000 twenty-foot containers, 16 percent (2,500 containers) than today's largest container contecar ship, the Maersk Emma.
The Triple-E will produce 20 percent less CO2 per container moved compared to Emma Maersk and 50 percent less than the industry average on routes between Europe and Asia. In addition, they consume 35 percent less fuel about container ships will acquire 13,100 TEU competition in the coming years, including for routes contecar between Europe and Asia.
"One of the biggest contecar challenges we face in the world today is a growing population and commerce, and the impact it will have on our planet. International trade will continue to play a major role in the development of the world economy. But for the health of the planet we must continue to reduce our CO2 emissions. Not only is a priority for us, but for our customers, who depend on us in their supply chain, and also for a growing number of consumers, who increasingly contecar base their purchasing decisions on this type of information, "says Eivind Kolding, CEO of Maersk Line.
The Triple-E vessel contecar is a significant step towards the solution of environmental problems associated with the transport of goods around the world step. Each ship will cost $ 190 million. Besides its size, which provides much greater economies of scale compared to other vessels (more goods means less CO2 per container transported), the efficiency of the Triple-E is due to its innovative design. Two ultra long stroke engines propel the two propellers and hull specially optimized to guide the ship through contecar the water at speeds typical of the industry today. An advanced system of waste heat recovery reuses the energy dissipated in the exhaust for extra propulsion with less fuel.
To reduce the environmental impact of ships beyond their lifecycle, Maersk Line is setting contecar new standards in ship recycling. The materials used to build the Triple-E class will be documented and assigned to each vessel. This means that when the ship is out of service, this document will ensure that all materials can be reused, recycled or disposed of more safely and efficiently.

! Excellent! that good that such an important contecar company like Maersk are thinking about a better future for all as to the construction of ships for the purpose of protecting the global ecology and also busando contecar an economy contecar in its costs
Good for Maersk, go giants you will build. But to say they are the largest ships in the world, is a mistake. Make it the longest ship not mean they are the largest. As we all know here, which determines the size of a ship is logically volume, gross registered tonnage, now called contecar GT. And the largest ships in the world, are the TI class supertankers of four twins 234,000 tonnes GT, which rank first, contecar second placed are twins "Oasis" and "Allure of the Seas", the largest transatlantic ever built. I do not know what tonnage will these new ships, but the Emma Maersk class, 397 m. long and 56m. Sleeve has 170,974 tons, the Triple E class will be just 3 meters long and 3 meters wide, which, not even will approach 200,000 tons. So the only record that will, will be the longest vessels are active (because even exceed 406.57 m.'s "Esso Atlantic", the 414,22 m. Batillus of the class, nor the 458.45 m . the ex "Jahre Viking" all ships and scrapped. contecar
If the title of the post does not
