Hopefully, you take this as serious as I do…after reading more about it and studying the permissions I have now deleted the app from my phone and don’t intend to use it ever again. I still have my Facebook app but I just won’t use the messaging feature unless I’m at a computer. Even then, I might not use messaging anymore.
With these kinds of privacy invasions I think Facebook is pushing the limits to what people will let them get away with. Singapore-based container yard container shipping line APL became the first to cold-iron a vessel s engines to eliminate exhaust emissions at the Port of Oakland, California. As others follow suit—as regulators require—cold-ironing will become a staple on California s coast.
The 900-foot (274-meter) APL Singapore switched off its auxiliary diesel engines after berthing at APL s Global Gateway Central terminal. It was the official launch of an APL program to cold-iron five vessels this year in the Transpacific Trade between Asia and the US.
In cold-ironing, ships at berth connect via large cables to the landside power grid for electricity. The vessels then shut down auxiliary engines that have historically been used to power shipboard electrical systems. With engines switched off, approximately 1,000 pounds of nitrogen oxides emissions, 165 pounds of sulfur oxides, and 30 pounds of particulate matter are eliminated in a 24-hour port call.
The state of California has mandated cold-ironing for container container yard ships by 2014. At that time, half of a carrier s fleet must rely on shore power when berthed in California ports. APL is one of only a handful of carriers currently container yard cold-ironing in California, and the only one in Oakland.
APL spent $11 million to retrofit the five container container yard vessels and re-wire its terminal for cold-ironing. It was awarded $4.8 million in California Air Resources container yard Board grants by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to complete the project.

Air, water quality safeguards key to second straight award from port SEATTLE, 6 FEBRUARY 2012: Global 20 40 container carrier APL has been named the most environmentally responsible shipping 20 40 line at the Port of Seattle.   The Singapore-based line topped all applicants in the port’s Green Gateway Partners Award program.  20 40 The honor, to be presented later this month, is the second in two years for APL. “APL has done an exceptional job with environmental stewardship and received the highest score of all the applicants,” said Port of Seattle CEO Tay Yoshitani. APL received 98.2 points from judges out of a possible 100 for a comprehensive sustainability program that includes: · Using cleaner 20 40 low-sulphur fuel on vessels at the port to cut 3.5 tons of particulate matter emissions and 30 tons of sulphur oxides emissions annually; · Transferring import containers directly to railcars to eliminate 1 million miles of truck transport and 2,600 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions; · Avoiding ballast water discharge to keep invasive organisms out of local waterways. In 2007, APL voluntarily became the first carrier 20 40 to use more costly low-sulphur fuel in Seattle.  The program has been expanded to ports in Hong Kong; Los Angeles; New Jersey; New York; Oakland, California; Singapore; Vancouver, BC; and the European Union. This is not line noise, but a complete APL program to display the Mandelbrot set in glorious ASCII, with asterisks and spaces just like Brooks and Matelski did a long time ago while studying Kleinian groups (it's a short paper, read it someday). I'll explain in (a lot, I hope) detail this line in a few moments. So, what's APL first?
APL is literally A P rogramming L anguage. Funny, isn't it? Getting back to the line-noisiness of APL, first you need to know that precedence is right-to-left, so 3×3+1 in APL yields 12 instead of the expected 10. You can change this with parentheses. Now that I have taken this out, we can analyse the line above. Instead of explaining it from right to left, I'll explain how I proceeded to develop it. Iterating the quadratic polynomial (∊150⍴⊂'←c+m×m') Put it succintly (I could explain a lot of the mathematics behind, but I just want to do a picture today) to draw the Mandelbrot set we need to find complex points c=x+iy (remember: blue anchor line tracking you can think of a complex point as a point in a plane, like a screen: it has an x coordinate and a y coordinate) such that computing f(z)=z^2+c a lot of times with z=c is eventually a point outside a circle of radius 2.
